Meet Kevin Jacobs

Candidate for Novato City Council, District 1

My name is Kevin Jacobs, and I am a 40-year resident of Novato. I was born in New York and moved to the West Coast in 1968 after my father passed away. I grew up on the Peninsula and started my family there, marrying my high school sweetheart. She passed away in 2011 after 33 years of marriage. I was fortunate to meet Sherri, and we have been together for over 10 years, married for the last 6.

I enjoyed a successful 41-year career in the construction industry, primarily in San Francisco, where I worked as a Project Manager and Superintendent on projects valued up to $45 million. At one point, I also owned a construction company based in Novato.

Having been involved in the Novato community for many years, I was thrilled to retire here in 2020. After retiring, I decided to become more engaged in local affairs. I formally joined the Novato Chamber of Commerce and became a member of the Ambassadors Committee. I had previously participated in the Chamber when I owned my business, and that experience was wonderful. I am also a graduate of the Leadership program, class of 2001.

In addition to my work with the Chamber, I applied for and was appointed to the Design Review Commission in 2022. I also served on the Design Review Commission in 2000. Currently, I am a member of the Government Affairs Committee and serve on the Board of Directors of the Chamber. Outside the Chamber, I am involved in the 4th of July Committee and on the Board, where I have various responsibilities. Earlier in my life, I also contributed as a soccer coach, Scout leader, and member of Rotary. 

My actual service to the community began in 1978 when I was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Tanforan Shopping Center in San Bruno.

I am running for Novato City Council in District 1 because I believe this is a great opportunity to give back and serve our community. I have been actively attending City Council meetings for many years, which has provided me with a deep understanding of our city's history and the various issues that have been brought to the council's attention. 

My experience and dedication to our community equip me to effectively address the challenges we face and advocate for solutions that benefit all residents. With my background in management and knowledge of the construction industry, I am prepared to put my skills to good use for the betterment of our city. 

I am committed to working collaboratively with residents and fellow council members to ensure a vibrant, inclusive, and prosperous future for all of us in Novato.
